About Friends for Life Friends for Life was founded in August of 2001 by Tamara McFarland and Linda Hall-Martin. We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit California corporation. Initially, we were Friends for Life Canine Rescue, Inc., but expanded our programs to serve cats and changed our name in 2002 to Friends for Life Animal Rescue. We began by focusing primarily on taking dogs out of shelters and placing them in foster homes and quickly expanded our services to include a Matchmaker Program, Spay/Neuter Program, Basic Dog Obedience Classes and our most recent addition, a Cat Foster Program. Details on all the programs offered by FFL can be accessed by taking this link. Friends for Life attempts to provide a bridge for animals from homelessness or abandonment to their forever homes. As we do not have a shelter, we cannot take in large numbers of animals. Our programs seek to serve the community by assisting individuals in finding new homes for animals they can no longer care for, stopping the births of unwanted animals and providing off site adoption events where our foster animals and private individuals can bring animals out to meet and greet potential adopters. Our foster programs provide loving homes for animals with wonderful foster people who work with the dogs or cats to provide socialization and rehabilitation as necessary while we search for great placements. We work with local shelters and other rescue groups whenever possible, always focusing on what is best for the animals. If you think you would like to be part of this work, please go to the Volunteer Opportunities page to learn more. |
